I get lots of requests to comment on hair products. Obviously I haven’t tested every product on the market (yet!) but I do know the best-sellers very well. I rounded up the products you mention the most often and put them in one post. See my reviews of the hottest hair masks out there!

What kind of hair mask does your hair need?
The ingredient list and reviews are the priority. Often masks which are made for damaged hair don’t contain substances which are essential for repair and instead we get fragrances and heavy silicones – no benefits for hair which is in bad condition. I’m aware not everyone is comfortable with analyzing the INCI lists so here I am! I’m rating the best-selling masks – I guarantee they have good components and get many positive reviews. You’ll find out which one I rate the most highly and which one didn’t work out best for me.
Best-Selling Hair Masks – My Review & Rating
Nanoil Keratin Hair Mask

I fell in love with it as soon as I bought it. A low price and big packaging were the first things that caught my eye. Over time, Nanoil Keratin Hair Mask proved to be a real steal! My hair loves it too and I can’t imagine doing without it now. This mask is based on hydrolyzed keratin that’s essential to hair health. It penetrates damaged hair to smoothen the cuticle and repair damage, bringing beauty and health back. When applied on healthy hair, it saves it from breakage and damage. In other words, it’s a truly multi-tasking treatment. Here’s the effect on my tresses: the first use gave shine and softness. Later on the hair got more resilient, smoother and easier to manage. What I love the most is it no longer breaks or splits (I put more product in hair ends), and stays hydrated and nourished. Nanoil Keratin Hair Mask has a light consistency and is easy to use. I usually leave it in for ten minutes.
Wrapping up, I think Nanoil Keratin Hair Mask is the best out of the most popular hair masks and scores 10/10!

Kevin Murphy Hydrate Me Masque

Here’s another multi-functional treatment which proves effective for most people. The best effect can be spotted on dry or damaged strands. Just one use is enough to deeply moisturize dry hair, making it soft too. I mostly reach for it after coming from summer holidays when my hair gets ‘knocked out’ by the weather and salty water. The formula includes many ingredients that our hair loves! To me, evening primrose oil, kakadu plum fruit and seaweed extract are the key ones. Regular use leaves hair more elastic, shiny and strong. Interestingly, it’s the only hair mask that I also apply on the scalp – it doesn’t cause oil excess but hydrates the skin. The manufacturer recommends buying the shampoo and conditioner from the same range for better effects but I didn’t do that because the reviews I came across were not enthusiastic. Kevin Murphy Hydrate Me Masque comes in beautiful, purple packaging which is characteristic of the brand. I don’t like the applicator which sometimes gets clogged. It’s not a big problem, though. I unclog it quickly.
Kevin Murphy Hydrate Me Masque is as effective as Nanoil but it comes second because of a smaller packaging and higher price. Score: 9/10.
Moroccanoil Restorative Hair Mask

This mask belongs to a hair-repairing range, Moroccanoil Restorative. I also bought the conditioner and I like the results but the mask does better. We can choose between two sizes, 250 ml and 500 ml. I chose a smaller one because of the high price. Moroccanoil products aren’t cheap but I think they’re worth the price. Yet before first use I was amazed by the sweet scent – it turned out to stay on my hair long. When it comes to components, the liquid gold of Morocco, argan oil, is a base which helps repair hair from within and strengthen it. This effect was visible on my strands. Shea butter is another ingredient; it deeply moisturizes but may also overload the hair. That’s why I apply a small amount of the mask. It’s a good thing because it lasts me longer. Moroccanoil Restorative Hair Mask is thick and easy to use. I usually leave it in for 5 to 10 minutes.
Moroccanoil Restorative Hair Mask is another good product but I take two points away for the price and slightly overburdening the hair. So the score is: 8/10
Ouai Thick Hair Treatment Masque

This one is the last in my roundup. I read many positive reviews and gave it a try despite the steep price. In product details I read it’s for thick hair but I took the risk. Girls with curls are happy with the results. Ouai Thick Hair Treatment Masque has a long-wear rose scent. The formula is rich: it’s packed with keratin, shea butter, macadamia oil and almond oil. Such components should work brilliantly. Sadly, they don’t. The product weighed down my hair leaving it flat and stringy every time I used it. I think it doesn’t do that when used on thick or curly hair. Unfortunately, I felt disappointed. I found a different use for it, though. I use it before shampooing (a method called Conditioning-Washing-Conditioning) and it works great for this purpose! Hair’s moisturized, not overloaded. It improves the effect of the mask I apply after washing so the tresses are shiny and smell lovely after blow-drying!
Even though I found a way to make use of it, I regret spending so much money. That’s why the score is 6,5/10.
